Richardson Artist in Residence Spring 2018
Richardson Auditorium is accepting applications for an Artist in Residence for April 2-8, 2018. Open to all Princeton student performers.
The goal of this program is to provide Princeton’s student performers with time and space to create high quality performances in a world-class venue, along with support and one-on-one time with professional production and event staff. These residencies are open to all types of performance art, including (but not limited to) dance, music, theater, and spoken word. Collaborations between different types of performance art are highly encouraged, as is originality and creativity of concept demonstrated in the written application.
In addition to rehearsal and performance time at Richardson, the Artists in Residence will have access to the following:
-Free tech rehearsals with production support
-Free no-tech rehearsals (space only, no audio or special lighting provided)
-The opportunity to work closely with Richardson’s audio and lighting designers to better hone the performance to Richardson Auditorium, including planning meetings with professional staff
-Marketing assistance through Campus Venue Services
The group or artist selected will help create and steer the direction of this residency. Richardson and the Performing Arts Services staff will also support additional pop-up previews and performances of the selected groups, encouraging community outreach and engagement.
The deadline for applications is Wednesday, November 8th at midnight. Each group or artist will then be asked to make a 10-minute verbal (non-performance) presentation of their interest in the program, followed by Q&A from the committee, which will take place during the week of November 13th.
The selection committee will include members from the following groups: Campus Venue Services, Music Department, Lewis Center for the Arts, ODUS, and select student representatives. A decision will be made by Wednesday, November 22nd. Preference will be given to groups who have not previously been Richardson Artist in Residence.
Selection will be based on quality of application, in-person presentation, and appropriateness of group/venue. All artists who meet with the selection committee will receive an email indicating the outcome of the selection as well as input on their applications.
If you are interested in meeting with members of the Richardson team to ask questions prior to submitting an application, please contact Kathleen Coughlin, Assistant Director of Performing Arts Services (firstname.lastname@example.org).
